Attention is the rarest and purest form of generosity.

Attention is how we become present to one another. It is also the thing modern life is organised to interrupt. The right question goes unasked. The recording is never started. Two people mean to write it down and only one of them does. A new parent keeps the baby’s book and loses the year that happened to them. A man who needs to think walks into a group instead, because that is what is on offer.

None of that is a moral failure. It is friction. The generous thing was always the listening. The rest was logistics.

Our mission is to use AI to increase human connection. Not so a machine can have the conversation. So a person can. We use it to take the work out of paying attention — the prompt, the transcript, the two logins, the blank page — and leave the part that only a human being can do.

That is what we mean by becoming fully human. Not more automation. More of the thing only a person can do: attend, remember, stay, speak in their own voice, hear someone else in theirs.

The usual story about AI is that it replaces us. Ours is the other way. If the technology is working, a grandchild can actually listen to a grandparent. A parent can keep the way a child said a word at three. Two people can keep one record without one of them disappearing. A new parent can keep their own days. A man can walk a hard question without an audience.
